This is a great neighborhood bar. We always go here for inexpensive drinks, yummy bar food and video poker. Lots of TVs to watch games, pool, buckhunter, etc. lots of things to keep one entertained. The owners and the bartenders are great and friendly. The new Bloody Marys they are serving is one of the best I have ever seen and had! I am going to ask the bartender to make mine more spicy, but I know they won't mind. But seriously it's a meal in itself for only 10 bucks! You get a delicious burger, tator tots, bacon, veggies galore and a beer buck, all for a measly 10 bucks! I was super impressed with this thing. I see all of these bad reviews and it's unfortunate that those yelpers feel that way, but I have yet to have a bad time here in Jay's and have never experienced any of what the bad reviewers are saying. To each their own opinion for sure. It's not the Ritz Carlton that's for sure. But the bar is spacious and not the worst bar I have ever been to. I think it's clean, and have been to FAR WORST Bars. We live in Portland, home of Dive Bars, c'mon people and if you think this place is dirty you truly aren't a Portlander. I personally LOVE dive Bars and this place is clean compared to some sketch places. If you're looking for something that's pristine and fancy pants go somewhere else off of 82nd, duh. Get yourself to Departure and pay 12 dollars a drink and 30 dollars for a morsel of food, ha. But I love going here. Grab your friends and head down here and make it a good time. It's all about who you bring to a place anyways. Get the bloody mary and be happy, dangit.

I've been here many times for UFC events, blazer games, etc. GREAT food, good drinks, clean environment. The staff is always friendly too. They have plenty of tv's and a nice projector for big events. They have pool tables and a dj. Their nacho plate could feed 20 people! Anyways, it's a great place to have a bunch of friends meet up and have a good time with good food and drink. Don't let the negative reviews discourage you, half of these people sound like morons...

The drinks were great. The bartender was rude. We also ordered one order of fries which were brought to us cold.

My wife n I ate n had beers Sat July 5th the food was GREAT, the service fair HOWEVER the next morning when we went online to do banking Jays Bar and GRILL charged us for two additional items totatling over $30.00. I thought no problem, I took the reciept I signed and printed out the statement and thought It would be a no brainer to charge it back to my card. The OWNER refused to refund the over charges citing the system dosen't do that on the weekend and then she said she didn't know how to do it but if I would trust her she would call me in two days. I refused to leave without the transaction being complete but she refused. We will never do business there again and I truley hope nobody else does either.

This is literally the best place in SE past 82nd ave. The service is phenomenal and they are so accommodating to anything you may want or need. The food can't even be classified as bar food because it's so fresh, yummy and well thought out. The menu changes with different specials and they still have the classic go to's for a nice comfort meal.

This is an off the radar gem of a place. The food is actually spectacular. I'm still dying to try their ridiculous Bloody Mary. I come here frequently with friends and the bartenders are awesome and remember your name. They have ping pong and pool and a plethora of video poker. This is a homey joint and basically I love coming here. Jays is the bomb.

Worst bar tenders. Super rude for no reason. I dont think ill come back again. This most recent time, the bartender was really nice to all the white old men but rude to all the people of different color. I tried to be nice, but it didnt help. Jays bar is now on my ban list.

Giving this place 2 stars because the food was alright... Never coming back here because we were serviced by the b----iest bartender I've ever met. She gave me a rude look because I asked for less ice on my mixed drink. The cup was basically filled with ice and she couldn't even make a decent Midori sour. Sorry but I didn't realize it was THAT hard to make. Never saw her smile once and she was rude to basically everyone who sat at the bar. If you even want a tip, here's some advice miss: SMILE, be friendly, and get off your damn phone while you're on the job. If you can't get rid of that smug ass look on your face because making drinks and taking orders is so hard, don't work in customer service. She obviously knew her service sucked so she didn't even give me my change because she knew damn well I wouldn't have tipped her rude ass a dime.

I love Jays! Great neighborhood bar! I normally come here with my husband on a Friday or Saturday evening/night. The drinks are strong, the music and crowd is awesome. Drama free and laid back. Not a young club atmosphere, which I just absolutely love. Nothing but good times. Haven't ordered anything off the menu, other then drinks. So not much to say about the food.

Amazing food! Such a understated sports bar. The place is so clean and inviting. Came here for a drink but was so impressed with their menu we decided to stay for dinner. The food did not disappoint and beats out any of the mall restaurants across the street.

Recommended by someone, we had pretty high hopes going in and knew that the three of us had to try a Bloody Mary from their menu. We went on a Sunday to watch some football since they have tons of screens. Little did we know they had a projector! Everyone around us was ordering Mimosas that were 3 bucks each, light on the OJ heavy on the sparkling wine, just like they should be. We each ordered a different bloody mary, one being just the plain jane, no sliders or anything extra, just bell peppers, olive, pepperoncini, slice of bacon...etc. I ordered the bloody mary with a bacon, cheeseburger slider, tator tots, bacon and all the extra pickled things that the first one had. My other friend had the one with the chicken and waffles. All three of us would not stop talking about how damn good the mix was!! Just the right amount of heat, the spices were point, salt on the rim and the food....seriously...I would have been happy if the food was just average, but the slider was great, my friend LOVED the chicken and waffles. One of us ordered breakfast, the two egg plate with french toast, bacon and potatoes. The prices at this place are SO good. Seriously, for that much food and that big of a drink, we were so stoked. Two of us decided to just continue the fun and instead of food we agreed to split the Colossal Bloody Marry- 32 ounces of madness, a slider, jalapeño poppers, two buffalo wings, tator tots, a mozzarella stick and bacon. All of their bloody marys come with a beer back....I mean seriously, they've thought it all through! We've been hopping around Portland trying out places bloody marys and this is BY far the best we've had in Portland and anywhere else. Jays, us girls love you and you will see us again. Service must be mentioned here- our server was a sweetheart, super attentive and I kept telling my friends I couldn't believe she was the only one serving (at the beginning) and still able to be so nice and sweet to everyone. She apologized when our friends food had taken some extra time because it was a new menu, but we hadn't even noticed because we were watching the game. She was so nice and so personable!! We realized we left and didn't get her name, but she has a colts tattoo and she was all dressed up for the game- which was adorable! My friends and I had such a good time, we can't wait to come back! They have a little outside patio and plenty of seating inside. Also games galore- pool and what not in a separate side room. Tons of tv screens so they were showing I think three games at once. Lots of beers on tap. They have certain specials every day going and we loved that they served the brunch/breakfast menu until 2 o'clock! Not one complaint to make about this, okay one- I wish it was closer to my house hah!

So against our better judgement we decided to check this place out because my brother wanted to see the Bellator fight and this place has a decent tv setup. So we went around 8ish the place was fairly empty which was nice, got a good table near their big screen that the guy working said he would put the fight on (yay!) My brother, sister and their mom all ordered food which is where this one star is coming from!!! They have pretty awesome food and they didn't wait long. Now on to music, idk what is up with this sports bar but they play music like they're trying to go for a freaking club or something downtown..it's mainly R&B and hip hop and it's so loud u have to shout across the table at people but whatever that's preference I guess..we were hoping they might turn the music down when the fight was on so we waited. Well about 20 minutes before the fight comes on the bitch bartender EVERYONE comments on starts sashaing her way onto the dance floor in front of the big screen with remotes and starts shaking her butt while putting the fucking big screen away!!! WTF??? Then I turn around and notice she put the fight on one screen at the freaking bar behind us and two screens in the back of the bar by the pull tables are u kidding me??? So my brother talks to them and they say yeah yeah we'll put it on...it took them till 9 when the fight starts to pull the screen down and it took the guy 5 minutes to actually come out and change the channel over -_- but guess what?? They never turned the music off so u couldn't hear the fight all u hear is bad 90's R&B a little country and more rap music OMG. So we gave up on the fight and my brother and boyfriend played pool a bit while us ladies sat talked and had a drink. Mind u I'm the DD I ordered 1 actual alcoholic beverage over the course of the night and at this point everyone else was only like 2 or 3 drinks in AFTER eating a bunch of food I never even finished my drink I went back to soda because this bartender can't make the same drink twice it's always a surprise as to what u will get. My sister and I drank the same thing she had three I had one this bartender made them different each time...the same drinks 4 times and they were never the same seriously? And forget being a chick and trying to get her attention at the bar she fucking mean mugs from afar and then avoids u when ur at the bar...I sent my brother up and oh looky there she responds well to men! Whatever we just ignored her ass. So after some light gambling and pool we noticed they had giant jenga!!!! So after the rowdy newly 21 yr Olds were done we all moved down to the floor and started playing. By this time it was about 10 almost 11 and and my sister was still on her third drink and the boys were at 4 maybe? Idk but we were all clearly sober unlike the other highly rowdy patrons at the bar and in the back by the pool and ping pong tables. So we finish a round of jenga and we're all happy and giggling and as I'm setting up for another round my bf comes over and tells me we have been cut off for the night. HOLD UP. excuse me? I'm looking around the bar at all the obnoxious noticeably drunk patrons and looking at our group we're all sober coherent...not wobbling around no slurring..if anything a couple of my group maybe had a buzz but hello DD right here. My bf told my brother and my brother went to talk to the guy to ask why we had been cut off when we werent rowdy..he sees my brother turns and ignores him and starts talking to some other guy he knows and completely ignores us. We picked our shit up and left by this time its 11:40 and we will NEVER GO BACK THERE EVER. So we drove to a local hole in the wall bar and closed the place out Ole's Medium Rare great service awesome people kicks music and awesome kareoke!!! I don't understand why, if this bartender has such a bad rep and is incredibly sloppy at her job WHY do u allow her to work there? It's a bad representation of ur business...she does what she wants and is on her phone often and treats u like an inconvenience when u ask her to do her job like make a drink? I just don't understand this place.

Wow...Im feeling generous with the stars this month! This is another place that earns it! We come here quite often as Oregon City and Clackamas area doesn't have much to choose from that is good! This place has great service every time we have come. What more can I say. The FOOD....Wonderful! This is NOT food that comes from places like this...You walk in and it is more of just a bar, sports lottery kind of feel but it is a great place to eat and have some good beers and drinks. When you go to the mall stop by this place...The Mexican food they serve is fantastic too by the way!

I read the reviews, and knew there was a possibility that this place might not be the best, but we went anyway. We wanted to get out to watch a fight, and it was only a couple minutes drive from our house. As soon as we walked in we spotted the bartender that everyone warns about. All those negative reviews of her? Yeah, they're accurate. Rude, doesn't listen, too busy on her phone, or talking with presumed regulars to be bothered with anyone else. She made it known through her mannerisms that we were inconveniencing her. The man (possibly owner or manager) welcomed us, and was incredibly polite. He got us our drinks and our food. I figured if the worst issue was the mean-muggin' bartender we could simply deal with him, and avoid an issue. That worked to some degree, but we did have to contend with her holier-than-thou attitude on a few occasions. The food was good (that qualifies the one star). My drinks weren't even in the ball park of the same throughout the night, and I only ordered one type of drink. I had 3 over the several hours we were there. Trying to watch the fight was pointless. The place was blasting hip hop & r&b so loud it gave me a headache. You couldn't hear to even talk to the person sitting next to you without having to shout, and the TVs were all muted. After giving up on trying to pay attention to the fight a few of us hit the slot machines, and a few went to play pool. At one point we noticed that they had a giant Jenga game. After the people before us had moved to the pool table area we went to play Jenga. Just trying to have fun. By this time we'd been there for about 4 hours. We'd all eaten, and had a couple of drinks. No one was even remotely drunk. We were laughing, and playing Jenga. My brother-in-law went to order a beer and was informed that we'd been cut off. What? Are you kidding me? As I said, I had 3 drinks, and at that moment was drinking a coke. My sister was a designated driver who was drinking sprite. My brother, brother-in-law, and mom were all about 4 drinks in. There was nothing to allude to the fact that anyone had any issues. Instantly Mr. Nice guy turned into a total ass, and when my brother tried to ask him why the cut off the guy actually stood right in front of him, and pretended he wasn't there. He found a familiar face in the crowd, and just started chatting with him, and completely dismissed my brother as though he didn't exist. We were all shocked, and honestly offended. We left immediately, and will never return.

It gets one star because there's no half star option! One of the crappiest places I've been to in the Portland Metro area! the bathrooms were horrid (I've seen porta potties at construction sites that have been cleaner) The bartenders have a fcked up attitude (both of them) I'm surprised I didn't get my drinks thrown at me!

Had a horrible experience. I'll give them the benefit of being the only decent looking bar in the area. But, that doesn't mean much. Positives include: plenty of space, decent prices, Dj, and maybe the pool tables. Negatives: there are many more negatives about this place than positives. I was happy to have a local bar by my home, but Jay's is not my type of local bar. Too many sketchy looking people come here. The area is also not the safest to leave your car. But, the biggest complaint was a female bartender who kicked out my friends and I because one friend was doing a card trick. She walked up and swiped at the cards, throwing some on the floor and then claimed that we at some point called her a bitch, and said we had to leave. Must have a chip on her shoulder or something because none of us could care less about her being there. In fact, the male bartender who did help us get our drinks was more than awesome. I hope this review doesn't come back to bite him in the butt in some way. Sorry Jay's, I will never come back and will never recommend your bar

This place has Justin Bieber attitude with Lil Kim as a waitress. Our waitress was dressed like she should have been working outside the bar. Totally ghetto. Don't order the chicken strips. The bathrooms were nasty. Won't be back.

I came here the other night with a bunch of friends and the wife. It's a nice bar, but the outside of the place appears bigger than it really is. It's easy to access the place from both sides of the road and its located across from the Clack Mall. We were there on a Sunday and the wife loves her Blazers. The bartender was nice enough to actually lower the big screen and suddenly we have this huge screen to watch the game on. Kudo's for that! Sunday night is free pool and ping pong, but the place was empty, I guess maybe because it was Sunday. The bartender was basically the lone man on the floor the whole night. He did a fine job but the kitchen was a joke. It seemed like there might have only been one guy working in the kitchen. My food came out first and while waiting for the others it took about another 10 minutes for other dishes and another 10 mins after that to get the rest. The food was good, but I'm sure it would have been better we were able to enjoy it as one group and not in sections. It's a pretty clean place, but I can't imagine what this place is like during fight night. Luckily I didn't have to experience it, and the bad DJ that people were talking about.

Good for Football! I pass this place all the time for a night out. I've heard rumors and a friend of mine won't even step foot in the place...not even for football? Really? Well, my husband and I have been going for two years now. They have the Sunday ticket, killer food, big plates, great drinks. We like Evette the bartender! For Football, they have the Sunday Ticket, with a big screen and tons of smaller screens in good view because the place is pretty spacious. They have a few pool tables and lottery. Ok, the clientele is young and can come across as ghetto WT, but really, they just enjoy football and can get loud or cocky. Not bothersome to me. Monday Night Football - they usually give away a jersey for a raffle. And have drink and food specials. I have had a few drink specials which were yummy and I love love their Bloody Marys! Only negative - they took the Gorgonzola Fries off the menu! What?

  • Shane B.

Been there twice Sundays morning, the breakfast was excellent and good price. Multiple TVs and Screen is a plus, watch Sunday Football games. Iced Tea wasn't good, tasted funny but they accepted to replace for another drink. Someday, I will bring my friends, not only watch Sunday Football games but play a pool and ping ping games. Hope owner/managers will do something negative comments about the crews. Keep up good job.

I went in on a Wednesday night for a quiet drink after a crappy day. The bartender spent most of her time chatting to two or three regular guys at the end of the bar.....which would have been no big deal, except that there were about five people total in the place, and her service still managed to be horrible. I had to get her attention to order my drinks (no, 'hi, what can I get you?'), even though she looked right at me. She rolled her eyes when I asked for water, and then instead of refilling it, took the glass away, so I ended up having to ask for another water. Unless you want to hang with douche bags drinking fireball, stay away. Back to McMenamins on Sunnyside I go....

A big screen to watch football on and the best Bloody Mary ever! It came with tots and a cheeseburger on it! Do I need to say more? Will be back next Sunday for the games!

I've been to Jays numerous times, and each time my experience has gotten worse. One would think witnessing a shooting occur in the parking lot right in front of you would deter one from coming back but, alas I came back one last time. When I arrived at Jays I was greeted by bouncers with guns... If you thought regular bouncers were douche bags give one a gun, and you've got the biggest jerk on the face of the earth, give ten bouncers a gun and... Need I say more? Sure, why not. The bartenders are rude, and one had my friend banned from the bar for asking what the DJs problem was; apparently the DJ was mean mugging, and making rude comments toward my friend. Even though I witnessed the entire ordeal, I asked the bouncers why he was banned, and the bouncers said he got violent, the cops were called and he was arrested. I found that strange because either the Clackamas County Jail has been relocated to my friends apartment, the police were wearing cloaking devices over their uniforms, and squad cars, or the bouncers were lying.... Hmmm. I've also been wondering how Jay's is even able to attract a crowd, and after minutes of critical thought I realized it's because it's the only decent sized bar within about a 7 mile radius. And it's conveniently located near a bunch of section 8 apartments; we all know how those section 8'ers love to drink. Plus, there isn't much going on in Clackamas and if the locals want to avoid a DUI, while enjoying the excitement of a real live gang shooting Jay's is the place to be! In summary, the music sucks, the bouncers suck, the bartenders suck, the prices suck, the layout sucks, the DJ is a douche, and it's simply an overtly hostile environment. It's sad, really. At first Jay's was such a nice place. The owner was cool, the bouncers were alright, the bartenders were nice, the original DJ was always cordial, the layout was comfortable, and you didn't have to risk your life for a vodka tonic. By the way, I'm going to continue to update this review as more things come to mind; it's just that there are so many negatives about Jay's I simply can't remember them all at the moment.

  • Andrew W.

Wow, I was pretty surprised to see so many positive reviews for this place. I'll be quick about this. 1. No atmosphere. There were 6 TV's in plain view from where I was sitting, they all were showing the same music video. I didn't even have to turn my head to see 4 at once. 2. Bad music. Music was way too loud and not very good. The DJ sucked at transitioning from song to song and the selection wasn't for me. They did play one MJ song though. That was nice. 3. Mediocre prices. Someone I was with paid $4 for a bottle of Corona. 4. Less than ideal patrons. Don't mean to be a snob or anything, but 3 main kind of people here. Bro's (see: Jersey Shore). Their women (see: Jersey Shore). And apparently there was a gang shooting there in the recent past. Maybe I'm spoiled by North Portland bars but I won't be back to Jay's.

Stupid policies. Stood at the bar for ten minutes after being told every person ordering a drink had to be at the bar and never got served. Left without buying a single thing.

What makes a great sports bar great is the number of tv's they have, if it's showing on HD, if the beer is cheap, and if they have your game available there. Jay's Bar has all that and is the go to spot in Clackamas if you're looking to watch the big game or big fight. Flat screens galore, not a bad seat in the house. They have the Sunday Ticket, catch every NFL game there. UFC events are shown here as well. So if you're into the MMA shit, youre in luck. Drink specials are a plus on those days. Besides being able to watch your favorite sporting events and taking down good drinks, this place serves up some killer food. And it's not just your regular bar fare. I like ordering the fish and chips. The burrito and nachos are huge size portions, but the chip and cheese sauce is my all time favorite. That and a nice cold beer, perfecto. No Portland area bar is complete without Video Poker, Pool, and Big Buck Hunter!

  • Sarah M.

So I've only been here two times. Once for a UFC fight. More recently for a birthday get-together. Our group was diverse in age and circumstance and we brought the fun with us. This place was so lame! The dj had a serious attitude problem. He clearly wasn't feeling our group even though we were the only ones dancing and our girls were super hot. Way hotter than the other girls there. You had to wear sneakers and sweats with tattoos and a wifebeater with bra straps hanging out to fit in the the ladies there. And don't get me started on the dudes. Can you say, "Hey we just drove from NE in a big ass caddy? And by the way can you buy me a drink?" Haha. The bartenders were bitchy too. They almost had my husband thrown out because he complained about the crappy vodka they used in my drink. I can say that the drinks were strong. So... if I'm ever desperate for a good drink and a poor athmosphere right after I wake up and roll out of bed, maybe I'll come by again. Otherwise, no thanks.

I'm glad we get place to go in SE Portland. This bar is clean and Big! The portion of foods are big which I LOVE about this bar. Parking space is big as well so I don't need to worried about where I should park.

  • Rachelle N.

Free ping pong! Haha that was fun, some pool tables that eat your quarters. Rude bartenders and I think there were cops in there! Two of them either that or they were bouncers but they seriously looked like cops. It was sketching me out. If you wanna watch some sex on the dance floor this is the place to go.

  • Kristen P.

Received extremely rude service including yelling from the bartenders here. I will not go back due to the poor service.
